Como Historic Walking Tour
Historic documents suggest that the first American discovery west of the Mississippi may have been near Como in 1804. Italian coal miners named Como after Lake Como, Italy in 1879. Upon arrival of the Denver, South Park & Pacific Railroad in 1879, Como became a booming railroad center.
Many period buildings are well preserved in Como, including four that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors may obtain a free copy of the Como Walking Tour Brochure at the Mountain Man Gallery at 6th and Broadway.
